North Myrtle Beach announces Christmas activities

North Myrtle Beach November 26, 2007 –The North Myrtle Beach Christmas Tree will be officially lit on Friday, November 30th at 6:00 pm at McLean Park. The Park will be transformed into a brilliant holiday scene with luminaries, decorations and the spirit of Christmas. The ceremony will begin at 6:00 pm and include entertainment by the NMB School of Performing Arts and The Academy of Dance Fine Arts. Local poet Patricia Robinson will read a special North Myrtle Beach Christmas poem.

Also enjoy holiday songs from Mary Kline and MC Susan Trexler. North Myrtle Beach Mayor Marilyn Hatley will welcome attendees and begin the countdown to light the glorious 36-foot Christmas Tree. The tree will be decorated with over 2,780 lights. Once the tree has been lit, the children are invited to visit with Santa and receive a free bag of candy while the entertainment continues! The North Strand Optimist Club will serve complimentary hot chocolate and refreshments.

Bring the entire family for a fun Christmas celebration in North Myrtle Beach. The Tree Lighting is organized by The Mayors Christmas Advisory Committee. For many years, the Annual Christmas parade has brought delight and holiday cheer to North Myrtle Beach s residents.

On December 1st, 2007, the tradition continues as Main Street in North Myrtle Beach fills with familiar holiday songs, colorful floats, marching bands and beauty queens. The parade will begin at 5:30 pm on Saturday, Dec 1st. Join your community as we watch local business and dignitaries parade down Main Street in celebration of Ch ristmas. The parade route will travel down Main Street to Ocean Boulevard and will disperse on 2nd Ave North.
