The October Slow Food Topsham Market will include Christmas puddings

THE Slow Food Devon Topsham Market returns with a stall for children to start baking their Christmas puddings. The market at Matthews Hall on Sunday, October 19, from 11am to 2pm will have a Christmas pudding taste workshop with Liz Hodges from The Globe Hotel. Children will be able to stir and mix the ingredients themselves and take home their own Christmas puddings to age and mature slowly for enjoyment on Christmas Day. “We always make our Christmas puds at this time of year,” said Liz Hodges.

“That way all the flavours blend together and mature to make a really tasty pudding. There is no way you can rush this. “A traditional Christmas pudding is the original slow food” The Slow Food Devon Topsham Market, which has been coming to Topsham monthly since January, has established itself as part of the rhythms of life in this food aware community.

Topsham residents as well as many more who come our regularly from Exeter and surrounds enjoy and appreciate the quality local produce that is on show, as well as the monthly Slow Food Taste Workshops that seek to educate and inform through taste.

Highlights for this month’s market include a visit of a Farmer’s Witch (Organic Arts), Natacha’s Market Kitchen (homemade foods made from produce from the market), home-smoked chicken, duck and prawns (Smoking Jacket Foods); new winter warmer ales (Red Rock Brewery) and much more.
