The Salvation Army will begin taking applications this month for Christmas Assistance. Christmas Assistance helps people in need receive gifts for their children and a food box for Christmas dinner. Applications can be submitted from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, through Friday, Oct. 31. Applicants must bring photo identification, proof of address, proof of income and identification for the entire household. Applications can be dropped off at 516 W. Madison St., Ottawa, or 1102 E.
