Christmas shopping season seems to come earlier and earlier each year. With “Christmas in July” sales followed shortly by actual displays of dishes and decorations, retailers are finding innovative ways to lure shoppers into their stores. With Wal-Mart’s recent announcement of early price slashing, one might wonder if black Friday will soon move to after Halloween rather than Thanksgiving.
“The shoppers begin to shop right after Halloween,” said Daniel Butler, Vice President of Retail Operations at the National Retail Federation. The typical rush-to-shop date is known as “Black Friday,” the Friday after the Thanksgiving holiday. Some retailers make up to 50% of their profit in the Christmas shopping season alone.
