CHRISTMAS is coming! And Mansfield is getting ready for its annual festive party and the switch-on of the town’s Christmas Lights. Panto stars, children’s TV favourite Dora The Explorer, Santa Claus — and even snow — are guaranteed to make the evening, on Thursday 15th November, a real Christmas cracker! Just go down to the Performance Area in the main Market Place for an evening of family fun.
It all starts at 5.30pm, with Mansfield 103.2 and the Chad Roadshow giving away prizes and providing music and entertainment right through to the grand switch-on of the lights at 6.45pm. Kids, look out for Dora The Explorer — the intrepid explorer who has all sorts of adventures in the Spooky Forest, Crocodile Lake and other exciting places. Don’t miss Cinderella and Santa Claus arriving together in Cinderella’s beautiful carriage.
There will also be the chance to see stars from Cinderella, this year’s panto at the Mansfield Palace Theatre. Autographs Dave Benson Phillips, star of children’s TV; Gemma Hunt from CBBC, and Jean Fergusson from TV hit Last of the Summer Wine will all be on stage, and then after the switch-on will be signing autographs in the Four Seasons Shopping Centre. And if the weather is unseasonably warm don’t worry, as a snow machine is sure create a winter wonderland of the Market Place.
So make sure you get down to Mansfield Market Place on Thursday 15th November at 5.30pm for a glittering spectacle of an evening! To round off the fun, look to the skies for a fantastic fireworks finale. But don’t rush home, as 15th November kicks-off late-night shopping in Mansfield. Shops will be open in the Four Seasons until 9pm, so hang around and get some Christmas bargains.
