Your guide to the Christmas lights display

-->

At any other time of the year slow moving vehicles prowling your street with the occupants staring at your home would result in a quick call to the police. But this is the season of goodwill towards men — and the season of the Christmas lights! All over the district families have been busy tizzying up home sweet home to glitter and sway with a myriad of coloured lights.

Retired Lithgow businessman Tom Gaynor is generally credited with starting the trend towards Christmas extravaganzas years ago. His neighbours along western Main Street quickly got involved to create an avenue of colour. In the ensuing years the displays got bigger and better all over the district to the point where Greater Lithgow gained the reputation as the Las Vegas Of The Mountains when it comes to bright lights over the festive season.

This year the numbers appear to be down just a little but the quality is bigger and better than ever.
