But even that doesn’t fully explain my feelings. I hate it because it is condescending and ignorant. Do they know it’s Christmas? Well, Christianity is one of the two main religions in Africa, so, yes, I’m sure they do. And for adherents of Islam or other faiths, they probably know it’s Christmas and don’t really care. And the line about snow — of course there won’t be much snow in Africa this Christmastime.
The continent is mostly equatorial (little snow), and a good part of it is in the Southern Hemisphere, where late December is summertime. Call me when there is snow in Botswana in December. THEN I’ll worry.
