… and community centers are included. The trees must be free of lights, ornaments, tinsel and garland. No flocked trees will be accepted. Trees will be accepted through Feb. 16. Once dropped off, the trees are then taken to Bordeaux’s Mulch Facility to be turned into mulch and later resold. Recycling the trees into mulch, instead of dumping them in the trash, keeps them out of landfills and saves Metro the cost of disposal fees.
Metro Public Works estimates that about 12,000-15,000 trees will be dropped off this season to be recycled. Click HERE for more information on recycling locations in the Metro area. People in Rutherford County can also drop off their tree at several locations. Trees can be recycled in Smyrna at the Lee Victory Recreation Park, the Public Works building in LaVergne, and the Farmer’s Market Shed at Cannonsburg in Murfreesboro.
