Get your holiday spirit kicked into gear by attending a dinner musical theater offering, “One Special Christmas,” that runs Wednesday, Nov. 28, through Saturday, Dec. 1, at Cincinnati Christian University. Produced by the Music and Worship Department and the CCU Theater Organization, the student musical theater production will warm hearts as the whole campus welcomes the community for an evening featuring a full dinner buffet and performance. Doors open at 6 p.m. prior to the 6:30 p.m.
curtain in Presidents Hall on the CCU campus, 2700 Glenway Ave., Price Hill. “Christmas Dinner Theater is a great start to the Christmas season,” said producer Brenda Lang of Delhi Township, who is also a music professor at CCU.
“This is a family-oriented show, and our guests will get to know our students as they see them doing everything from serving to performing.” Now in its 19th year, CCU’s Christmas Dinner Theater is a local favorite for many in the Tristate region, with some community and church organizations bringing a group every year for the festive production that involves nearly 100 cast and crew members.
The college transforms its performance space into part of the set, and actors and chorus members help serve beverages and assist audience members between scenes. This year, the main set is a living room in a home as the story focuses on a family conflict amidst typical cookie-baking and tree-decorating Christmas preparation. The performance space will make audience members “feel at home” with an emphasis on traditional Christmas home dйcor, Lang said.
