Have yourselves a cheeky little Christmas

Transylvanian sin twins Monica and Gabriela Irimia will also perform live. The bubbly brunettes, who shot to fame despite being ridiculed by Simon Cowell on TV talent show Popstars: The Rivals, will be in Seaham on Friday, November 16. However, it is not known whether the leggy duo, famous for their minuscule outfits, will brave the cold of the East Durham coast or wrap up warm instead.

It is expected 25-year-olds Monica and Gabriela will treat Seaham shoppers and revellers to their singalong hits, including Hooray, Hooray, It’s A Cheeky Holiday and Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum) which reached No 2 in the charts. The Seaham Christmas lights ceremony will be a joint venture between the town council and Modus Properties, the developer behind Byron Place, and includes the official opening of the shopping mall.

The fun will start at 4.30pm and include community carol singing with Seaham Town Band, as well as the switch-on of the lights in Church Street and Byron Place. Street entertainers will add to the razzmatazz, with possibly a firework display to end the show.

Parks and recreation manager Mike Preston said: “Seaham Town Council is delighted that Modus have organised for celebrities to be involved in the event.” The Cheeky Girls have rarely been out of the tabloid press since they arrived from Romania in 2002, especially when Gabriela began dating Liberal Democrat MP Lembit Opik a 50-1 outsider to become party leader - after his split with ITV weathergirl Sian Lloyd.
