The one thing I love about Christmas is the hymns. (Well, OK, if you choose to give me an iPod, I won’t object too loudly). Some of the most beautiful songs ever were written in honour of Noel. A good choir singing my favourite, It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, is a wondrous thing to hear. Children singing Silent Night, off-key even, are heartwarming.
