Last Days to Mail Christmas Gifts December 18, 2007

If you haven’t sent out your Christmas packages by now, they may just have to be “after-Christmas” packages. Julie, Rob and Noot Jones have been very busy. They own “Goin’ Postal” in Perry. Yesterday they had Christmas boxes stacked to the ceiling. “Cut-off for ground was actually yesterday, but if you’re still shipping within Georgia, maybe Florida and Tennessee, today, possibly tomorrow,” says Rob Jones. Kyle George shipped his Christmas parcels this afternoon in Macon.

He just made the deadline. ]”I’m probably one of those people that are habitually late.” George explained. “At the last minute, I always get gifts out to my dad in Oklahoma just in time for Christmas, but the lines have not been too bad.” The lines haven’t been too bad, and Jones says he hopes the lines are shorter because people have learned to mail packages before the holiday rush. “We still get procrastinators and we try to urge people to ship early.

We don’t want people to wait to the last minute and have to pay for overnight shipping.” But, Jones says even the earliest Christmas shoppers will have some packages arrive late this year. Storms in the Northeast and the Midwest have delayed flights and any presents on them. Jones says the absolute last day to mail Christmas packages is this Saturday and if you wait that long, you’ll have to pay extra for overnight or same-day delivery.
