The pair from southeast London were looking for a Christmas switch-on to get in the festive mood when they stumbled across details of the event in Mansfield on the internet. Countdown to Christmas Lights switch-on After viewing pictures of the lights on Mansfield District Council’s website, Lorraine and Mark could not resist travelling more than 100 miles for the Market Place switch-on on 15th November.
Pop power at Christmas Lights switch-on Says Lorraine: “It looked so festive that we decided to book a hotel in Mansfield and come up for the switch-on next week.
“We have never been to Mansfield before, but the lights look very impressive on the photos and we are sure we will not be let down.” Lorraine filled in a questionnaire on the council’s website about the upcoming event and Mansfield’s town centre events and promotions co-ordinator Lisa Vincent was delighted to discover that the lights were attracting people from so far away.
Said Lisa: “It’s a huge compliment that someone would want to travel such a long way to enjoy our Christmas Lights and switch-on event I am sure they will not be disappointed.
