As families prepare for the upcoming Christmas holiday season by adorning their Christmas trees and homes with a variety of colorful lights and other decorations, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission is warning consumers about a potentially dangerous product that has been contanimated by lead paint and made in China. According to CPSC, approximately 36,000 Christmas ornaments have been recalled.

The ornaments that have been added to a growing list of recalled items are the 2006 “Snow Princess Stirrup,” 2007 “Holiday Stirrup,” and, the 2007 “Photo Frame Horse Shoe.” These products were made and distributed by Reeves International Inc., of Pequannock, N.J. They were sold in various retailers nationwide from July 2006 through October 2007. JCPenney, a major retailer, sold the item in its catalog as well as its website. The cost of the ornaments ranged from $15 to $18.

The CPSC urges consumers to stop using these ornaments and return them to the store where they were purchased to receive a full refund or to exchange them for another item. For additional information as well as a full description of these recalled ornaments, visit www.cpsc.gov.
