Donations Needed For Annual Christmas Dinner Reservations Accepted Until Dec. 21 POSTED

“The contact that you have with other people is probably your best gift to give,” White said. In the beginning, White was a police officer on the street who said he saw too many people alone on Christmas Day. With the help of volunteers and donations, the annual dinner was started. White is retired from the police force. He said he considers everyone who attends the dinner as a part of his family.

“And they feel that way, not only between us as volunteers, but along with the other participants — our guests,” White said. Ketz reported that White is seeking volunteers and donations to make this year’s dinner happen. The dinner is from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Christmas Day at St. Peter’s Elementary School at 6400 Charlotte Street. The meal is free to anyone 60 or older with no place to be for the holiday.
