The Dorris Davis Helping Hands Shelter in East St. Louis has begun its annual Christmas Dinner and Toy Drive for the 2007 holiday season. The shelter is seeking donations of food to serve for the Christmas dinner and to give to families as well as well as toys to give to children in the community. It is also accepting monetary donations to help purchase food and toys for the event, which is held on Christmas day in East St. Louis. The event will begin at noon on Christmas day at the East St.
Louis City Hall at 301 River Park Drive. Volunteers to serve the meals on Christmas day are also needed. The shelter has been serving homeless men in the metro-east since 1986. It provides the men a place to stay, food, life counseling and referrals to social service agencies and other services.
