Judy , Liverpool england until we as a society reject the ‘compensation culture’ this sort of lunacy will prevail. reckless attitudes to safety must of course be eradicated but whilst we run to the courts for compensation every time something goes wrong, who can blame the insurers for raising premiums? in particular the disproportionate awards given in many cases generates an increased fear of litigation which only perpetuates the problem.
Either we are prepared to accept a balance between risk and freedom or we will all be wrapped in cotton wool in a decade or so - safe but bored, bland timid. I know which path I’d choose…
