Adidam is not alone in his thinking that earlier Christmas sales make sense for retailers. The National Retail Federation is predicting a slow season. With economic concerns across sectors, the retail advocate said it expects sales growth to fall below the 10-year average — the slowest holiday since 2002. But one bright spot is expected to be online shopping. “Online sales will grow around 15 to 20 percent this year, and that’s a large, huge chunk,” Adidam said.
