“We got it in April and then went through extensive training to learn all that it can do,” noted Price. The new engraver comes complete with a computer and over 500 clip art reproductions, which can be used to personalize a number of surfaces including crystal, glass, metal, leather, and canvas. The computerized tool gives Prices the means to create one-of-a-kind personalized gifts to make weddings, birth of a baby or anniversaries even more special, she explained.
“It is a great way to add a special sentiment to a bottle of wine for example, for a unique house warming gift. We can even scan business logos to create unique business gifts right here at the store,” said Price. “The machine is a top of the line laser engraver and is of the same quality of the ones used in engraving shops in large malls,” added owner Roger Price. Roger and Anita Price are third generation owner operators of the local downtown jewelry shop.
In addition to names, dates and phrases, the new engraver also can do objects too, said Anita Price. “We can do symbols besides words,” she explained. “Things like wedding rings and hearts can be engraved on the inside of wedding rings. If you can imagine it, we can do it. Last year we used the machine to create special bookmarks for our kids with words engraved in their own penmanship,” she continued.
More than just a top-notch etcher, a unique personalization feature the machine can do is to emboss leather and canvas. “We can emboss leather wallets and business card holders. Basically anything we can fit into the machine,” added Anita Price. The only limitation to what the new engraver can do is the item’s size — the machine can fit items up to 18 inches in length — and quality of the finish. “Some finishes on items just don’t work.
